Education:

Graduated Magna Cum Laude from Van Nuys High School, Van Nuys, California, in June, 1962, Majored in mathematics.

Graduated with B.A. degree from University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), 1968, majored in mathematics.

Completed courses at Cal State University Northridge in electricity, magnetism, electro-magnetic physics, analysis of capitol expenditures, computer programming, strength of materials.

Work experience:

Began in 1956 as electrical draftsman for father, who was a registered consulting electrical engineer, working summers and saturdays. Company was named J.C. Athans & Associates. Then it became Athans & Weiss, Consulting Electrical Engineers. Became electrical designer, doing circuiting, load calculations, single line diagrams. Became project enginer.

In 1969 became electrical apprentice in I.B.E.W. Local 11 District 4. Did electrical installation in residential, commercial, and light industrial projects. In 1966 obtained union card as working electrical contractor.

In 1969 became full partner with father in J.C. Athans Engineering & Construction Co., doing electrical engineering on several decks of the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA.

Licnsed as an electrical contractor (C-10) and general building contractor (B) through J.C. Athans Engineering & Construction Co., Inc., from 1971, and through Athans Enterprises, Inc., since 1976, License #329 440.
